The committee, members and volunteers, and our partners, were very busy in the lead up to the recent Federal election.  Together, in the Perth Hills (mainly in the seat of Hasluck) we achieved, our reach was at least;

  • 363 climate policy conversations with people in the hills
  • A 500,000 reach to social, print, radio media and mailouts
  • 2,260 items of marketing materials distributed, such as stickers and corflutes

A more detailed summary of the PHCCIG pre-election activities is here.

Thank you to our partners, the Australian Conservation Foundation, the Conservation Council of Australia, and Climate Network Australia. Thank you everyone! And thank you to local community groups, such as the Nature Reserves Preservation Group, Save Perth Hills and Hasluck Friends of GetUp,  and the many local businesses who have provided outlets for signs and stickers.  Thank you also to the hundred or so businesses and individuals and families who have allowed us to take photographs of them with ‘Climate Act Now’ signs.

Together we’ve helped turn climate concern into climate action. See the The impact of Climate Advocacy on the Federal Election report.

Thank you also to the candidates, and congratulations to the successful candidates, Tania Lawrence, Australian Labor Party, and Andrew Hastie, Liberal Party.  Hopefully, here’s to a future bipartisan approach, one that’s consistent with our Federal Election Advocacy Position.
