Well, there’s been a lot happening in the lead up to the election!!   Weekly stalls ‘Climate Action Now’ have been held at the Mundaring Farmers Market and the Kalamunda Market, in collaboration with Climate Action Network, the Australian Conservation Foundation and the Conservation Council of WA (CCWA).  It’s been an inspiration indeed to see the level of support there is for climate change in the Perth Hills!  Do have a look at the photos taken at the stalls- on the Perth Hills Climate Change Interest Group Facebook page and Instagram.

Meetings with members have been held in Mundaring and Kalamunda.  Meetings with candidates (those able or willing to meet with us across Hasluck and Canning) were held, to inform them about priority climate mitigation (emission reduction) and adaptation priorities for the Perth Hills, as mentioned in our Advocacy Position paper

A Hasluck candidates forum was held in partnership with CCWA and the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC), and candidate’s responses to our questions/or their main policy positions have been released to various types of media.

The Climate Council’s report on climate risk and house insurance, and our analysis of this data, and what it means for families in the Perth Hills has also been released – Insurance risk flyer.

We’ve also been continuing to find a way for the voice of a diversity of grownups and kids  in the Perth Hills to have a voice about climate, as you will see in the article in this newsletter about the upcoming Millennium Kids’ Perth Hills event Millennium Kids Event.
